The design of the bar at Arch 635 in Clapham, London was not just an aesthetic exercise, but one which demanded extreme functionability.

The main aim behind this bar design was to create a better environment for bar staff and provide facilities to enable a speedier service. All units behind the bar were tailormade at less expense than modular units, yet achieving better results in terms of ergonomics and suitability.

Lights were inset in to the bar top and sides to provide areas for subtle sponsorship from breweries while adding to the cosy atmosphere provided by the existing lighting.

Design of workstation inspired by a Second World War Plane wing. Scale model hand-made and hung from the ceiling by cables and brackets. Mirror placed at end for full effect.

The Times newspaper and office technology company, Gestetner launched a search for the UK's most 'visually exciting and inspirational places to work' with a view to creating 'The Digital Office Collection'. Following completion of the project, the DFGW office design was included in the Times& Gestetner Digital Office Collection 2001.
